Rev. John Flynn joined the Home Missions staff of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria in 1902. The activities of the Australian Inland Mission in the Northern Territory and adjacent sparsley populated areas were initiated and directed by Flynn for 39 years. The Australian Inland Mission was established by the Presbyterian Church of Australia's Board of Inland Missions on the recommendation of Rev. John Flynn, in 1912. Flynn was appointed organizing agent and superintendent.
